Finance minister Michael Wilson announced a new timetable for the 1988 89 Canada Savings Bond campaign. Cash sales for the issue begin October 20, with November 1 as the final cash payment day, moving forward the cash sales period to October end and allowing post dated payments.
The Village of Rossburn council met June 27 with Mayor Morley Kostecky presiding. Residents raised drainage concerns and a motor grader sale was discussed. A $46,500 grant from the Minister of Highways for seal coating and dust treatment was acknowledged. By law 88-737 for street seal coating and debentures was approved. Tax sale date set for December 13, 1988 at 2:00 PM.
The Sacred Heart of Jesus Ukrainian Catholic Church in Rossburn marked a Millennium in its Feast Day Praznik with a special liturgy and outside blessing of water and the cross noting 988 to 1988. Donations funded the cross and numerals, a dinner for over 100 guests followed, and Master of Ceremonies Mike Antonin introduced Father Lehky who spoke on the millennium with greetings from St. Theresa's RC Church and violin music by Sharon Chuhai.
