Manitoba deer hunting to mirror last year despite elk licenses change
Manitoba's Department of Natural Resources announces 1983 deer seasons similar to 1982. Bucks only in Pembina Valley. bucks defined as antlers over four inches. Resident deer licenses cost 16 dollars, Canadian residents outside Manitoba 80 dollars, non residents 100 dollars. Elk licenses remain one tag for two hunters except near Riding Mountain National Park, with a one license one tag rule there. Special elk licenses offered to landowners. archery elk allowed for those who held steel licences in 1982. Deadline for draw applications is 4 30 P M Friday July 8. For details call 775 0221.

Smycnuik resigns from Rossburn Village Council

Binscorth Orioles and Riverside Canucks share prize money
In Birtle Manitoba, the Binscorth Orioles and Riverside Canucks split the first prize of 600 dollars each after the Manitoba Senior Baseball League July 1 tournament finals were cancelled due to rain. Binscorth had defeated Hamiota 8-7 and Brandon 4-3 to reach the final, while Canucks opened 19-0 over Angusville and beat Souris 7-2. Earlier, Angusville edged Virden, Brandon beat Dauphin, Hamiota topped Neepawa, and Souris defeated McAuley.
