Pelly Trail Board approves buses and staffing changes

The Pelly Trail Board met in the Central Office Board Room on June 2 and 17 to approve purchases and policy changes. They authorized three school buses if funding is approved, extended Indian Affairs space use at Rossburn Collegiate, hired extra teachers for Rossburn Elementary, and allowed Bran don University to use Russell Elementary as a student teaching centre. The board also set year end dates, approved a local auditorium use, and budgeted a Pitney Bowes copier.

Rossburn Women's Institute Plans 1970 Convention

The Rossburn Women s Institute met July 1 at 2 30 pm in the annex. They agreed to donate 20 to the Dental Clinic and 25 to Rossburn Senior Citizens Home. Beryl Williamson reported on Roblin Convention. The group invited Roblin to host the 1970 convention in Rossburn. A Peace Gardens trip was deferred. A jackpot was won by Mrs Radford. next jackpot by Agnes Snider. Lunch served by Mrs Taylor and Mrs Cleland. Next meeting September 2.

Rossburn Fair Set For Saturday July 12 Event Highlights

Rossburn marks its 60th annual fair next Saturday July 12 featuring an open Senior Baseball Tournament with $100 top prize and $50 $25 $25 awards, open Men's and Ladies Fastball events, plus the Parkland Midway rides for all. Local entries welcome for a full day of outdoor activities.

Farewell gathering honors Fulford and Miss Hay in Rossburn

A large crowd at the Rossburn Town Hall on Friday June 27th bid farewell to Rev and Mrs Gordon Fulford and Miss Margaret Hay. Gifts were exchanged by multiple groups including the Rossburn Vista pastoral charge the U C W and hospital auxiliary. Margaret Hay plans to move to Winnipeg while the Fulfords head to Neepawa. A lunch followed the proceedings.

Parkland Studies Economic Base

Parkland Development Corporation launches an economic base study conducted by Parkland staff with the Department of Industry and Commerce. It will analyze agriculture, industrial output, population, commerce, renewables and services to set regional development priorities within a year.

Angusville Teams Top Elphinstone Tourney

At the 90th Elphinstone Picnic and Old Timers Reunion Angusville seniors won 150 dollars and juniors took 100. The Cards defeated Wawanesa and Rivers to reach the final while the juniors ousted Oak River and Cardale before a 4-1 final loss to the Cards. Bantams defeated Onande and Cardale before falling to Brandon.

Trousseau Tea Held In Honor Of Janet Johnston

A teahouse event at the Johnston home honored bride elect Janet Johnston on June 14. Guests poured tea including Mrs. Derry Moulson and Mrs. Doug Johnston, while servers and gift and trousseau room stewards are named among local residents.

Joint Services For One Year In Rossburn Churches

The Rossburn United and Presbyterian congregations begin joint services in the Rossburn United Church for one year with Rev. Brian Penny serving as minister. The arrangement is sanctioned by both presbyteries and will be re-evaluated after the year.

Rossburn Hospital Auxiliary prepares for summer recess after a May meeting. Sixteen members attended as officers for 1969 70 were announced and plans were set for barbecues and an upcoming lunch. The group discussed a drink machine project and a donation to a school dental clinic.
