West Fed leader weighs Manitoba future says small turnout
Elmer Knutson, president of the Western Federation West Fed, told about 30 Dauphin audience that Manitobans are not showing enough interest. He outlined West Fed aims to form a federation of the four western provinces to bargain with Ottawa and denied separatist motives, noting support across Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta though some members focus only on metrification or other pet issues. Knutson emphasized the movement is not a political party and compared the proposed regional framework to sovereignty associations, while urging members to engage with provincial MLAs to spread the West Fed message.
