In the M A H A district hockey tournament at Foxwarren on January 23 eight teams competed. Rossburn-Oakburn fell just short of repeating 1953 by losing in the final after defeating Binscarth 3-2 in overtime and beating Russell 5-1 in the second round. Birtle won the final 3-0. Local team received strong spectator support and praise for play.

He arrives from Halifax aboard a CN boat train, carries letters of gratitude from farmers, and plans to settle in Canada. He has nine years dairy farming experience in England and the Channel Islands.

CNR to Receive 141 New Passenger Cars Soon
H B Parr Montreal general manager of C N R sleeping dining and parlor car department said 141 new cars including fourteen dining cars and six dinette cars will be placed in service on Canadian National trains. More than 50 will operate in the western region or in transcontinental service with first deliveries this month and all in service by mid summer.
