The Pelly Trail School Division Board met at 2:00 p.m. January 17 in Russell and set the first and third Mondays of each month as regular meeting dates. Winter meetings move to 1:30 p.m. spring fall to 8:00 p.m. Community facility use near schools is encouraged to share space and reduce costs.

Preservation Rural Life Convention in Brandon Manitoba
The two day conference on rural life and preservation will be held at the North Hill Motel in Brandon on February 6 and 7. Sponsored by the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce the event features Dr. Eber Eldridge from Iowa State University and Neil V. German QC of Calgary. Delegates will hear about new Manitoba regional development programs and discuss a policy position on rural development to address Manitoba's declining rural population with a $10 registration fee per delegate.

Former Rossburnites Mr and Mrs J D Kirk received the B C Thoroughbred Breeders Society trophy for 1971 as leading breeders in the province. Their Glen Valley farm horses earned 71545 in racing purses. The Kirks own palomino horses including the official flag bearer in the Grey Cup parade.

The Birdtail W I held their January meeting at Mrs. Frank Fiar chuk's home with nine members attending. Officers elected include Pres. Ann Rambeitz and Vice Pres Jean Cleland with others named for secretary sick committee board member auditor and reporter. The group planned fund donations to March of Dimes Arthritis and Rheumatism Cancer Fund and set a Whist Drive date. Mrs. Freda Butler won the Jackpot. A lunch followed.
