The Rossburn Arena marks its official opening after extensive renovations. Saturday events start at 6 30 p.m. with ceremonies at 7 30 p.m. MLA Harry Graham attends, ribbon cutting, Lions Club vs CKXtras hockey at 8 p.m., then a town hall dance with tickets from Lions Club members.
The Rossburn Ladies Bonspiel held January 20 22 drew 12 rinks. Winners include Linda Chwaluk Oakburn Evelyn Mohr Vista Myra Moore Rossburn for First Event. Second Event top prize went to Lois Melnyk Rossburn Ann Moan Rossburn Donna Hedley Rossburn Lorna Veitch Rossburn.
The Lions Club held a jackpot bingo with winners listed for positions 1 through 16 plus ties. Notable names include Mrs. Konyk, Mrs. Wese lak, Mrs. Alex Maryniuk, Nora Oudie, and Mike Kurchaba among others, with ties noted for several places. The event occurred on Wednesday January 25.
The Paper Depot at the former Beaver Lumber Yard will operate this Saturday January 28 from 1 to 4 p.m. Seniors and disabled can arrange pick up by calling Wally Mohr Dwain Lawless or Rick Plaister at the listed numbers. Volunteers seek a truck load of paper and ask for bundled and tied contributions to help the effort.
Report describes UFO lights south of the Ryshytyle farm one mile east of Rossburn, observed January 19 before 6:00 a.m. by Mike and Mrs Ryshytyle and their son Tony. Eight small objects and two larger craft produced brightening lights about 12 miles south of the buildings, suggesting a village like glow. The event adds to prior unexplained UFO reports from the area.
Hon. Bob Banman Minister of Industry and Commerce met municipal officials and residents from the Birtle Russell area in Rossburn on Friday afternoon. MLA Harry Graham also attended. Banman said the trip aimed to meet people and gather feedback. Continued on Page 8.

The Ice Machine Fund continues to rise with new gifts this week. Rossburn Festivities Inc donates 500.06, George and Nellie Lazaruk 15.06, bringing weekly and total personal contributions to 4645.21 from various sources including raffles and pools.
The Birdtail W I met at Emily Tanasychuk's home with seven members. They read a roll call post card and donated to the Ability Fund and Children's Hospital. A pot luck supper was set for Alice Hniéb eniuK's home. The jackpot was drawn by Myrtle Maxwell and won by Beatrice Maxwell. Next meeting at Anne Kambeltz's on February 2 at 2:00 p.m.
