Eddie Palmer in Larada Air Hospital After Narrow Escape
Eddie Palmer, captured by the invader forces last summer, arrived in Larada for hospital care aboard the Sitp Letiten. He is staying with his sister Mrs Bert Palmer in Rogsburn after arriving January 12 with a month of leave before heading to Winnipeg for further treatment possibly requiring a plate insertion. The shell fragment narrowly spared his life, injuring part of the left cheekbone.

Oakburn United Church Annual Meeting Summary
The Oakburn United Church held its annual meeting at the Smith home on January 17 with Dr P N Murray chairing and J W Smith as secretary. Reports showed healthy finances but declining membership due to removals. A 14037 cash balance plus 130 trust fund from the church stable sale were noted. A 20 donation to invest with the 150 trust fund funded Victory Bonds for church grounds and building improvements when possible. Trustees were re elected. John W Randall, J W Smith and J W Menzies joined the Stewards for two years, Mrs A Woods replacing Mrs Smutters. Ruth Black named organist and Dr P N Murray auditor. Spring services to resume, likely Easter Sunday. lunch and social hour followed.
