Rev. B. F. Parsons announced at Rossburn that the church school meets nightly with a divine service at 7.30 pm and a late session at 11.00 pm. The schedule emphasizes evening worship and education within the Rossburn congregation.
Pentecostal Assembly invites all to Friday Family Night at 7 15 p m and Prayer at 8 p m. Sunday School begins 10 30 a m followed by Morning Worship at 11 30 a m and Evangelistic Service at 7 30 p m.
Military authorities announce a Canadian-wide effort to locate deserters and silentees from the army in MD 10. The drive covers Manitoba to head of the lakes in Ontario with civilian harboring penalties and increased military police powers. Trained investigators and combined civil police will assist, and public aid is requested.
A province’s school district supports in service training for a teacher with Normal School background to study Music and Art in summer. The board approves funding for the courses and related expenses, aiming to improve local education. They argue this investment advances school administration and fulfills provincial trusteeship of education.
Canadians still pay the same prices for flour bread sugar and rolled oats as in 1941 while milk is 14 percent lower. Food costs rose less than 5 percent, rent up about 1 percent, clothing slightly over 1 percent, furnishings stable, and fuel cheaper. In 1943 commercial failures fell to 314, the lowest since early 1900s, signaling business strength alongside price ceilings.
A discharged service member may retain and dye the uniform and greatcoat upon discharge. Insignia and brass buttons must be removed and the dyed clothing must not resemble the original uniform. Government property restrictions prohibit sale or transfer of the clothing.
A Montreal gathering at M. B. M. Hallward’s home featured French Canadian union leaders stressing unity with English speaking industrialists. Speakers described personal change from division to collaboration, citing shared values and the Moral Re-Armament training at Mackinac Island as inspiration for better teamwork across communities.
M Chas Kudlowsky returns home from Winnipeg where he has worked recently. Mrs Henry Miller visits friends in Vista and Rosburn. Miss Marie Dychakowsky returns to Winnipeg by bus Friday. Ranchvale Red Cross and Soldiers Aid hold their monthly meeting at Mrs Wm Maxwell's home on Thursday Feb 1st.
Special religious services held in the Orange Hall on Monday and Thursday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. The sessions are voluntary with Bible based tasks. Conducted by J. Radcliffe and A. Cooper.
The Rossburn rink hosted an exhibition game before a big crowd. Thanks are due to Principal Wilson and volunteers who built the fence and ice facilities. The score was 8 to 6 in favor of Rossburn. Additional games followed with Oakburn Cubs defeating Rossburn Cubs 5 to 1, Vista Scout Troop beating Rossburn Scouts 6 to 3, and Rossburn Seniors defeating the Waynesco team 9 to 5.
Mears ist Harry Komber left for Brandon on a business trip. A farewell party was held for Clement Derlago at his mother's home on Tuesday January 24. Clement departed for embarkation leave to the east coast. Miss Lucy Berezi left for Winnipeg after a holiday with her parents. John Magdaniuk reported a frost damaged car motor due to forgotten drainage. Lloyd Ritler left for Fort William after a month with relatives.

The community calendar lists a Co-op meeting tomorrow at 2 30 p m. James McBride suffered a fall and was shaken up. Several residents including Mr and Mrs J Cormack Mrs Jas Armstrong Sr and Percy were at Walter Snider's on Wednesday. Pastor Venton of the Pentecostal church has received his call to colors and is stationed at Winnipeg. Wesley Strong has returned from Winnipeg and is recovering after a double operation. The Rossburn Agricultural Society will hold its annual meeting on Wednesday the 7th at 2 pm in the Club Room. good attendance is urged. On the 60th wedding anniversary Mr and Mrs Walter McIntosh will host friends Monday Feb 5 from 3 to 5 pm. Mr and Mrs J G Stitt traveled to Fork River Sunday. Msg A Brothers accompanied them to Grandview. Mrs R Stewart of Calgary visited her brother W Coughlan for several days.
The many friends of Lawrence Urbanowki are pleased to see him again when he arrived home Friday from overseas after being badly wounded. He will be home for a month before returning to Winnipeg for further medical treatment.
Mr and Mrs John Lindsay received word on Monday night that their son Blair Lindsay has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroic action cited earlier in Winnipeg papers. Congratulations Blair.
