Prairie grain board pays final 688 million to farmers
The Canadian Wheat Board announces 688 million dollars in final payments for 1983 84 grain delivered on the Prairies with Saskatchewan receiving the largest share 387 7 million followed by Alberta British Columbia 88 million and Manitoba 88 million mailing of 188 000 cheques has begun The total payout for grain sold in 83 84 is 5 037 billion while 82 83 paid 5 298 billion Farmers note the payout reflects a bumper 1982 crop and prices remain under pressure from weak markets The final payments are farmers earnings not a government handout and cash flow is welcomed for spring seeding and financial strain

Rossburn Council approves Main Street Manitoba project and grants
The Village of Rossburn council held a special meeting on January 10 1985 to approve Sub-Project No 3 at 25394 00 under the Community Assets Program and Canada Works. Manitoba Hydro will remove 17 mercury vapour lamps and install five 250 watt high pressure sodium units. The village will trench and install 2 inch PVC pipe pull wire sand backfill and perform pavement work as needed.
