United Church Women Form New Congregational Group
The United Church Women held the first meeting January 9 in the annex to launch a group for total church missions. Officers were chosen, nine committees formed, and a dedication service set for January 21 at 7 30 p m in the United Church. Membership fee is 50 cents. a donation was sent to the Women’s Christian Temperance Union.

Smycniuk Rink Tops Open Bonspiel First Event

4-H Club News Sandy Lake Meeting and Christmas Party
The Sandy Lake Clothing Club held its fourth business meeting on Saturday December 16 with 29 members and 22 guests. Linda Mizinchuk and Darlene Shevchuk demonstrated how to iron a man's shirt. The next meeting is January 10. A Christmas party followed the meeting with a very enjoyable time for all.

The Pelly Trail School Division held its inaugural meeting at Angusville on Friday January 6 appointing A V Warman as chairman replacing H T Hulston. Edward Shust was sworn in as Ward 5 representative with several trustees named for two year or one year terms. Officers include S P Gerelus vice chairman H M Keay W A Burnett E Shust finance committee J E Wilson solicitor H E Graham returning officer A Chaytor secretary treasurer and Sill Streuber Meyer and Fiske as auditors. The year’s financials show a brighter outlook despite grant uncertainties and the third Wednesday monthly meeting date was set.

Mr and Mrs John Hullick and Leonard joined Christmas with the Mack Hamilton family. New Year's Day was spent with Mr and Mrs James Lyall at Kenton. The Vista W A held its annual meeting January 3 at Mrs Wm Stitt's home with a devotional by Mrs Thompson. Five new members welcomed and officers elected: Mrs Wm Stitt president, Mrs Dick Baker vice president, Mrs H Hamilton secretary, and Mrs M Miller press reporter. Meeting adjourned with lunch and plans to sew remnants for a fall bazaar. Next meeting February 7 at Mrs W J Hamilton's home.

Funeral service for Marie Hyra widow of George Hyra was held at Lakedale Greek Catholic Church. She died December 18 in Brandon at 89 years, 4 months, 18 days. Survived by six sons, two daughters, 27 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren. Interment at Lakedale Cemetery. Pallbearers named. out of town mourners included two daughters and a son.
