Special information shows Russell Constituency abolished under redistribution. Russell would join an enlarged Birtle to form the new district with a population of 11667, including townships 16 to 18 and 19 to 21 in specified ranges.
The High School rink team led by Kenneth Cald well Wayne McKnight Donald Murphy and Terry Kohach traveled from Rossburn to Winnipeg for four games including close losses to Pilot Mound and Miles McDowell. They attended a Eaton sponsored concert and a February 1 student dance announcement followed by a successful Red Cross tea fundraiser.
The Rossburn Women’s Institute met January 8 at 3 p.m. in the United Church Annex with 17 members and 4 visitors. After routine business and a March of Dimes collection plan, guest speaker Mr Ferguson spoke on the Indians of Long Plains, whom he had served as missionary for seven years. The gathering ended with Mizpah benediction and a lunch hosted by Mrs Langridge and Mrs Armstrong.
The United Church schedules its annual congregational meetings at Vista on Tuesday January 15 at 2 PM and at Rossburn on Wednesday January 16 at 6 PM.
Village of Rossburn held its inaugural meeting on January 2 with Mayor Earl Moffat presiding. Minutes adopted. 1957 officers appointed. licenses remain as before and must be acquired by January 31. council adjourned.
Maynard Grant Crookshanks, age 54, died suddenly late Tuesday afternoon. He had seemed in good health. Funeral set for 2 p m Saturday at Rossburn Cemetery with full obituary to follow in next issue.
The WMS and WA held a joint meeting Tuesday evening with 20 members present. The WMS met with Mrs. Cormack presiding. WA delegates answered Roll Call by naming a Favorite Flower. Surprise Teas were planned from January 17 to April 18, with a Valentine Tea on February 16. Mrs. Gunn requested donations of old Christmas cards for the C.G.I.T. and lunch was served.
Miriam Ruth Eastman and Edward Richmond Running united in marriage on New Year’s Eve at the Pentecostal Tabernacle Port Colborne Ontario in a candle light ceremony. Rev R C Eastman and Rev E Hornby officiated with Elma Barber as attendant and Rev Keit Running as best man. Reception for 90 at Rathfon Inn followed by wedding trip to Florida. Out of town guests listed from multiple Ontario towns and three other states.
