Manitoba Hydro Announces 2.8 Percent Electric Rate Increase
Manitoba Hydro will raise electricity rates 2.8 percent effective April 1 1986. Chair Marc Eliesen said Manitoba maintains the lowest rate structure in Canada and the increase, smaller than inflation, boosts net revenues to 19.6 million for the year ending March 31 1987. Residential customers would see about an 80 cent monthly rise based on 700 kWh. This move preserves reserves and rate stability under low water.
