The Rossburn Review issued Thursdays from Victoria Ave Rossburn with H J Rowley as publisher. It notes Canadian and U S subscription rates and memorial notice pricing for notices under seven lines.
A retrospective sketch traces early settlers around Rossburn Manitoba including William Cochrane and Thomas Buchan and their descendants. It lists families such as Crookshanks Plant Grant Huston and others with notes on births deaths and long stays in the Valley, ending with a tease of continuing next week.
Mr Howard McIntosh returned from Winnipeg last week while J George left for Calgary to resume duties at the Bank of Toronto. A Canadian Ukrainian Committee concert and dance drew a large crowd, with proceeds around 55 for Rossburn Hospital. The Ladies Aid of United Church stages a three act comedy A Ready Made Family on March 1.
The Board of Trade expresses confidence that 1947 will bring prosperity for the town and district. It notes West’s hopeful outlook and credits the board’s business leaders with guiding community welfare, urging citizens to support their efforts and contribute to local progress.
At the annual meeting the executive committee includes Wm Brown N Tol E Strong Lysachuk and H J Bowley with Karmazenuk as executive. The Board schedules the next regular meeting for Monday March in the Club Room to discuss grounds parks rest room and other important matters.
Elizabeth Jane Carmonage aged 71 years dies after long service as a mother and Christian woman. Survived by 3 daughters and 8 grandchildren. Funeral at United Church on February 25 conducted by Rev. Nixon with Rev. Mack assisting. pallbearers listed.
Mr Tom Sinclair and others spent a weekend in Rossburn while Mrs Maxwell and Margaret visited Victoria B C. A social evening at Padinbynys last Thursday raised funds for the hospital. Annie Oryniak returned home from Wennipes last Wednesday. Marion Miler stayed at her valley home. Doors under the auspices of the W in the Rossburn Hall on Friday March 7. Proceeds for the hospital ward.
A Box Social and dance at Vista Hall on February 21, sponsored by Boys and Girls Aid of Resshur Hospital, drew a large crowd. Approximately eighty dollars was raised. the event ran to 3:00 a m. Organizers included Tom Stittch, Harry Hamt en, Witton Brown, and Bamm Rogers as auctioneers with Shwaluk treasurer and Walker secretary. Extra lunches were provided by Mrs Baker and Mrs Halliday.
