After an unusual weather spell the weekend of February 9 to 11, city trucks and equipment worked to clear a foot of snow dumped on February 9. Roads were closed on February 10 and several cancellations were reported.

Conditions other than money to be negotiated. Reeve Lawless cast deciding votes for both sides. Phyllis Zegalski to remain office caretaker at 240 per month plus 25 for snow removal with a two year term. ad to run in October 1996.
Manitoba Telephone System proposes voluntary termination incentives to cut about 300 jobs at MTS Net and 30 at MTS Con. About 2900 MTS Net and 837 MTS Con employees were invited to consider retirement, early retirement, or voluntary separation with responses due by March 15. If not accepted, layoffs could follow after tallying responses.
