Legion Hosts Annual Bonspiel At Sandy Lake
Ten rinks entered the Sandy Lake Legion Annual Bonspiel held Friday and Saturday with prizes awarded to teams from Sandy Lake Onanole Manitoba. Legion President Anthony Yaworsky presented prizes and community updates followed by Ukrainian Women's Association activities and local notices from Sandy Lake including nursing leave and hospital recoveries. Sixteen rinks expected for the high school bonspiel this weekend.

Further Child Health Conferences Planned
A successful child health conference occurred at Sandy Lake Hospital on January 26 under Miss Joyce Killey and Miss Jean Witherspoon with Dr. Noel R. Rawson in attendance. Hospital committee members aided, and a tea was provided. The event launches a series of monthly conferences by the Neepawa Local Health Unit on the fourth Thursday, 1 30 to 4 00 p.m.

Obituary: Nick Chupka 78 Longtime Ozerna Resident
Nick Chupka died at his home at 78 after a short illness. Born in Redoduby Poland he married Mary Borowski in 1903 and lived in Brandon since 1904 before settling in Ozerna in 1922. Survived by Mary, sons Albert and Mike and three daughters Frances Katie Helen, with nine grandchildren. Funeral service at Ozerna Greek Catholic Church conducted February 4 by Rev. M. Ferenz. Pallbearers named. Minnedosa Weirs in charge.
