A special January 29, 1979 meeting of the Rural Municipality of Rossburn approved accepting a report on the January 18 Oakburn abandonment of the CN Rossburn Subdivision rail line and named John Mitchell to head a committee with Wally Peleshok as alternate to press the Canadian Transport Commission to retain the branch line. The board noted CN’s Carberry Subdivision Neepawa Branch abandonment and CN’s request to lift it, with a temporary lifting order issued for the Neepawa Junction to Rossburn Junction line, a lighter track that may fail to service the Rossburn Subdivision adequately.
