Regular Council Meeting Notes of Park District Manitoba 1976
The Local Government District of Park held its December 13 1976 meeting in Russell Manitoba with Reeve Nowalkowski presiding. Attendees discussed attendance at district meetings tax and debt payments and by law readings. A plan to subdivide Onanole Development Co. NW 7 19 18W was approved. The meeting adjourned awaiting January 10 1977 and offices close for Christmas.

25 lb Northern Pike Caught at Rossman Lake
Kevin Bartram, a 15 year old, caught a 25 pound Northern Pike while ice fishing on Rossman Lake on Saturday December 18. The fish measured 4342 inches in length with 20 percent girth and is being entered in the Manitoba Master Angler Awards competition.

Rossburn Stingers Edge Onanole In Season Opener
The Rossburn Stingers beat Onanole 5 to 4 in the Riding Mountain League opener. John Ryshytylo sealed it with 3 seconds left. Art Peck scored twice, with singles from Bob Rachel and Terry Kreshewski. A strong crowd witnessed a fast hard fought game as the Stingers prepare for their first home game on Wednesday the 22nd.

1973 74 Grade VIII Class Donates Excursion Funds
The Rossburn Lions Club Arena Building Committee received a letter Monday informing that the 1973 74 Grade VIII class donated the remaining balance of 26.16 to the fund. Funds from a long ago Northern Excursion are now used to buy a 12 cubic foot Deep Freeze.

Rossburn Hornets Rally for 8-6 Overtime Victory
Doug Hedley scored five goals fueling the Rossburn Hornets to an 8-6 overtime win over Miniota on Tuesday December 21 at Miniota. Rossburn led 2-1 after one period, trailed 4-3 in the second, then outscored Miniota 2-1 in the third before Hedley tallied three overtime goals.

Christmas Service of Music at Rossburn United Church
A large Rossburn United Church congregation attended the annual Christmas program on Sunday evening December 19. The Senior Choir and Junior Choir directed by Walter Dueck performed carols and numbers with Mrs. Armbruster and Mrs. Allen on piano. The C. O. D. Band contributed pieces and later Tom Warburton and Mrs Dorothy Armstrong presented gifts to the choir leader and pianists on behalf of the choir and church.

Manitoba Pension Guarantee Increases to 248.29 Monthly
Pensioners in Manitoba will receive 248.29 per month starting January 1 for singles widows and div orced individuals. OAS and GIS add 141.34 and 99.13 respectively plus Manitoba Elderly supplement 7.82. Married couples over 65 will get 475.60 per month comprised of 141.34 per person and GIS 88.03 each plus 8.43. Quarterly cheques total 25.29 for each couple member.
