Winter weight policy uptick in Manitoba trucks begins
Manitoba Highways Minister John Plohman announces a winter weight policy allowing a 10 percent hike in maximum axle weights on Class A1 and B1 roads. The policy, in effect December 1 to February 29, applies to frozen conditions with higher quarterly vehicle licence fees. Class A1 limits rise from 9 100 kg to 10 010 kg single axles and 16 000 kg to 17 600 kg axle groups.

Rossburn RM adopts by laws and budgets for 1983 84
The Rossburn Rural Municipality held its December 12 meeting with Reeve John Mitchell in attendance. It passed By-Laws 1125 and 1126, approved November minutes, and approved nov expenditure transfers. It authorized a $1,000 donation to the village skating arena and a $1,000 grant to the Rossburn Agricultural Society, plus plans to seek ministerial approval for deficit funding and tax recovery. Provisional service estimates were adopted: General Government 30 000, Protective 2 500, Transportation 70 000.
