Gerald R. Brown is promoted to Chief Librarian for all School Library Services in Winnipeg School No. 1 succeeding Agnes L. Florence who retires December 31 1977. He has served since 1965 in Winnipeg in various supervisory roles and will oversee staffing training and collections across the system. Brown studied in Vista area before Brandon College teacher training in 1955 and earned degrees including MEd from Manitoba Western Michigan MLS in 1967. Best wishes for success in the new role.

Midget Team Defeats Grandview in Snake Creek Hockey Opener

St Lazare defeated Rossburn 4 3 at Rossburn Arena on Sunday December 17. Rossburn trailed 4 0 before a late rally trimmed the deficit to one. Scorers for Rossburn included Rory Kreshewski Gerald Gensorek and Gerald Gensor ek with assists from Kevin Woycheshin Hedley and Sidoryk. Goaltending shared by Ray Zegalski and Barry Hyra.

Suspect Apprehended North of Rossburn
A 14 year old juvenile from Grandview Manitoba was captured by Rossburn RCMP near the Rezac farm area Sunday night December 18. He was wanted in connection with the shooting death of Mrs Phyllis Blake 52 of Grandview. The youth drove a small yellow car and was turned over to Grandview RCMP. He had wandered to the Checkowski residence seeking nourishment and was found armed and cautious. It is believed he spent Saturday night in the area.

At a Rossburn village meeting it was revealed that the community arena is funded solely by local taxes with no outside support. The current deficit is 7066.77 dollars on total costs of 9211.27 dollars, based on a mill rate tied to 1,238,120 assessed property value.
