Village Council Final Meeting of 1963
The Rossburn Village Council met December 17 1963 with Mayor J G Stitt and four councillors. They confirmed minutes, adopted the November 1963 financial and constable reports, reappointed Walter Perchulak to a medical nursing unit committee, passed liquor bylaw 355 and reserve fund bylaw 362, and approved land purchase bylaw 364. A $100 bonus to the secretary treasurer for sewer and water work was approved, bills totaling 54 578 43 were paid, and the meeting adjourned to January 2 1964.

Christmas Party Highlights School Holiday Schedule
The High School prepares for Christmas holidays with a decorated card box and an exchange gift event. Students will finish early at 2 30 Friday and resume classes Monday January 6. Boys enter the Southern Basketball League with Strathclair Shoal Lake Hamilton Kenton and open January 8 at Rossburn. Strathclair girls also visit for a friendly game.

Lions Xmas Concert Outstanding Success
The Rossburn Town Hall was filled to capacity Wednesday evening for the Lions Club holiday program. Santa attended and distributed treats as school groups and other organizers presented a lively show. Proceeds after expenses benefit the Park Playground community service fund.

Rossburn Hospital Committee Meeting Minutes
The Rossburn Hospital Committee met Thursday December 5 in the hospital with B Mitchell chair. Present were L Hrysak A Cleland P Wiadyka W Perchaluk A McIntosh J Lawless and administrator 5S B Labovich. Minutes of November 1 were read and adopted. A questionnaire from Civil Defence was received and will help obtain a Disaster Kit. Pension plan for employees was tabled until January. Plumbing for permanent sewer hookup to be arranged. Matron’s report noted. A new kitchen stove to be bought from donations. Outstanding capital fund cheques to be cancelled. Financial statement accepted. Meetings to be held on the third Monday of each month. Meeting adjourned.

The Auxiliary held nine meetings in 1963 with an average attendance of 14 members. Funds raised financed a baby spoon for the first baby born in 1963, four radios for wards, an electric fry pan, a vaporizer, and purchase tags for items previously bought by the Auxiliary. Anyone may join as an active or associate member. next meeting planned for January with details to be announced.
