MPIC raises Autopac premiums for 1991 in Manitoba
Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation won Public Utilities Board approval for 1991 basic Autopac rates. Most drivers will see about a 5.5 percent increase with a minimum of 15 dollars, affecting roughly 460,000 vehicles. Additional increases apply to vehicles with poor claims experience, about 169,000 cars. Some 160,000 older model years will be vintaged to lower ratings, yielding smaller or negative changes for those drivers.

The Rossburn Game and Fish Association held its annual deerhead awards banquet on Saturday December 1 with 92 attendees. Garry Tanasychuk won the deerhead with a score of 139.875, edging Ed Kreshewski's 143.125 in 1988, while Metro Belbas Terry Sawchuk Elmer Sawchuk Robert Kostesky Lorne Tanasychuk and Bob Shebaylo placed behind. The event featured a wildlife conservation talk by Roy Bullion and a prize raffle followed by dancing with Four Season providing music. Pension benefits rise in 1991 Old Age Security and GIS
The Honourable Perrin Beatty announced increases to Old Age Security GIS and Spouse's Allowance. The 1991 maximum OAS rises to 354.92 monthly from 351.41 and GIS for single pensioners to 421.79 from 417.61. Married GIS limits go to 274.73 per spouse, Spouse’s Allowance to 629.65, and Widowed Spouse’s to 695.14. All indexed quarterly to CPI.
