Mr and Mrs Glen Smith of Brumlee spent the weekend visiting relatives in town. Mr Dave Cleland has returned home from Brandon hospital. Birdtail ladies presented a gift to Mrs Alex Andrews. Mrs Mack and Ellaweena left for Winnipeg and Miami for Christmas. Neable motored to Brandon to fetch his wife nursing there. Mrs Keith Hamilton nee Beatrice Beirnes of B visited Mrs H Beirnes. Mrs Wm Finch of St Catherines Ont visiting sister Mrs H Beirnes. Mrs Stewart returned to Winnipeg to be with a sister who is ill. Mrs H Miller is a patient in Russell hospital. The childrens church class gathered to thank Mr and Mrs Mack for their church work. Monte Hale stars in Along the Oregon Trail at Rossburn Theatre on Mon and Tue Dec 22 and 23 at 8 pm. Mr and Mrs Orville McFeeters announce the engagement of their daughter Charlotte Vernice to Elmore Douglas Von Hagen of Holbein Sask. The wedding will be December 26 at 2:30 in the Rossburn United church.

War Veteran Beirnes Laid To Rest In Rossburn
A World War I veteran George Harold Beirnes was laid to rest in Rossburn on December 10 1947. The service at town hall included Rossburn Legion members and United Church choir with Reverend Nixon delivering a message on immortality. Interment followed in Rossburn Cemetery with Legion graveside rites. Beirnes served three years overseas returning in 1917 and was town clerk of Rossburn for five years. He leaves a wife Beatrice a daughter and extended family.
