A fatal accident near Brandon last Friday night claimed the life of Harold Beirnes the Rossburn town clerk. The car carrying men from town collided with a snow plough after being blinded by bus lights. Dr W A Shaver the driver and Joe Griffen, Maron Slow were hospitalized in Brandon with injuries.
Mr. Mike Saley travels to Winnipeg for medical treatment while Miss Evelyn Maydaniuk visits with Mr and Mrs Joe Maydaniuk. Alex Komber sells his farm to Stanley Maydaniuk. Tina Sadler of Grandview visits Saley family. Frank Bereza leaves for Winnipeg. Ann Derlego returns home for a short visit. Percy Armstrong tests cattle for TB in Rossburn district. Frank Martin of Minnedosa and two others hunted at Frank Magdaniuk’s place. A farewell party welcomed Mr and Mrs Wm Chehowsky as they move to their new farm bought from Henry Miller. party well attended.
Sunday visits from Harry Collinridge to Mr and Mrs A Wackefield and other residents mark a steady stream of local activity. Attendees include Rev and Mrs Black at Brandon rally and Rachelle Paisner in Roblin for the new rink opening. An auction sale for John Collins has been postponed to December 13, with multiple families hosting visits and well wishes for a speedy recovery.
Audrey Ida Palmer, daughter of Bert and Mrs Palmer of Rossburn Manitoba, married Howard Keith McIntosh, son of Mr. and Mrs. McIntosh of Rossburn, in a Nov 28 ceremony at Union Church Vancouver. Attendants included matron of honor Darcy Plante, groom’s sister Weldon McIntosh was best man. A reception followed at 923 Walford St. They will reside in British Columbia.
A three year old red steer has wandered from a local farm in this district. Anyone with information on the animal's whereabouts should contact Mike Baydock in Mears.
Miss Betty Kelso of Roblin daughter of Mayor George Kelso was voted Queen at the carnival. Mayor Kelso officially opened the event. Winnipeg skaters performed in the ice follies. Mr Kelso received a gold watch from Roblin residents in appreciation of his work securing the rink.
A ladies curling meeting gathered in the Club Rooms in December 2019. Officers chosen include honorary president Mrs Huff president Mrs Murray and secretary Dorothy Woods. Social draw and membership committees named with Lorraine Alexander and Marion Brown. Membership fee set at 4.00 with fees paid to Dorothy Woods by December 45.
Mr and Mrs Joseph Peden announce the engagement of their youngest daughter Alice Amy to Constable Edgar Lawrence Hadley of Mulgrave Nova Scotia. The wedding is set for December 19 at three o clock in Knox United Church Rossburn.
The Ivuis Burn Agricultural Society held its annual meeting in the Club Room on Wednesday December 314 with about thirty members present. Old directors were reelected. Calf clubs were organized for boys and girls and fifteen calves were funded by the society. Named are Elwyn Mc Feeters Keith Stitt Willie Cameron Andrew Kiez Bill Carson Stuart Chegwyn John Mitchell Paul Ukrainetz Alex Kurshusky Tom Heneghan Norman Mitchell Kenneth Caldwell Wendie Cleland Douglas Joiner Leslie Taylor. Officers elected: John Mitchell president Andrew Kiez vice president Douglas Joiner secretary. The society urges community support for the future showmen.
The Rossburn Young People's Society met in the Lab Room on December 2 with 28 members. Cpl. F Murray R.C.M.P. gave an address and the group decided to sponsor three one-act plays in January. Four new members joined and the group will meet again December 16 in the Club Room.
The Rossburn Skating Rink Committee thanks the citizens of Rossburn and district for donations over 500 dollars received in four days.
Winnifred Gladys Armstrong daughter of Mr and Mrs Walter Armstrong Rossburn marries Gordon Renolds son of Rev and Mrs Renolds of Teton at Rovee Avenue Church Toronto December 3 Rev Kerr officiates. Newlyweds reside at Kirkland Lake.
