Rossburn School Establishes Scholarship Fund

Rossburn School forms a scholarship fund with Bank of Toron account under the Insitor Fund and the Rossburn School Trustees. The fund aims to aid worthy students for at least one year, with typical awards of 50 to 100 dollars, and may support talent development beyond academics. Contributions from individuals and organizations are welcomed to grow the perpetuity and benefits may be tax deductible.

Monthly Report for Western Manitoba Children's Aid Society

The board met in the society offices led by Mrs. R. A. Clement Jr. Progress reported on a Christmas shop and parceling for over 150 children. Donations from community groups support redistribution to needy families. A new volunteer is needed for the clothing room. Tag days totaled 13. Resignations of Miss Reynolds and Major Barrett were accepted. The McConnell Memorial Benefit raised nearly $1200 for the fall campaign. Foster home planning was outlined for groups of defective boys. In November the agency opened 57 cases and closed 68. as of December 1, 865 families received service.

Empress of Scotland Caribbean Cruises From New York

Canadians can join the Empress of Scotland for winter cruises from New York to the Caribbean and Spanish Main. Three itineraries run 17 or 18 days with ports including St Thomas La Guaira Trinidad Curacao Panama Jamaica and Havana. The ship features two swimming pools and serves as a floating hotel while en route.

Mr. Harry Dunbar of Brandon visited Rossburn on Wednesday. Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Mike Juice on the birth of a daughter at Rossburn Hospital on Sunday December 6. Born to Mr and Mrs Geo Henrickson of Winnipeg a son David Ross weighing seven pounds and two ounces on November 31. Mrs Kornel Hrankowski rode to Winnipeg to visit her daughters and sons in law and their three grandchildren.

Post Office Extended Hours Before Christmas Holiday

Due to the long weekend holiday Christmas Day and Boxing Day the post office will stay open all day Thursday December 24 to serve customers before the holiday closure.
