Rossburn Council appoints Caldwell deputy mayor at regular meeting
The Rossburn village council on Tuesday November 26 1985 appointed Councillor Kenneth Caldwell as Deputy Mayor. They approved an electricity service quotation from Manitoba Hydro for 111.25, set luminaire replacements on Main Street, and discussed liquor closing times and hall capacity. By-law 85-699 to cancel taxes was read thrice and passed. Financials for October were approved and a $500 donation from the Rossburn Senior Citizens Group was acknowledged to install a Smoke Eater at the Community Centre. Plan to erect two Welcoming Signs near PTH 45 and skating fees for 1985-86 were set along with arena rental rates.

Court orders farmer to issue an apology
An Oakburn farmer accused of threats and resisting arrest was ordered to apologize to a Rossburn credit union officer. Walter Drozda, 64, pleaded guilty to resisting a peace officer and assaulting officers after a Sept. 1984 incident. He has welfare support and bankruptcy actions ongoing.
