Pelly Trail School Division reports steady growth in reading and math skill levels since 1972 based on the Canadian Test of Basic Skills and Gates MacGinn ie testing. Results show Pelly Trail students matching or exceeding national averages across grades.
The North Central Hockey League lists games from December 10 to December 23 featuring McAuley Shoal Lake Birtle Kenton Angusville Miniota Elkhorn Fleming Cardale Strathclair Rossburn Hamiota and Kenton. Matchups include home and away games across all venues with multiple dates per week.
The Rossburn Collegiate girls volleyball team traveled to Baldur for the Small Schools Provincial Playoffs. They posted a 10-0 round robin record, defeated Grandview in a three game semifinal, but lost the final to Riverton in straight sets 15 11 and 15 12.
The Rossburn Stingers compete in the Linament League with Shoal Lake Birtle Oakburn Elphinstone and Onanole. They practiced in Foxwarren and Shoal Lake and have played two exhibition games against Shoal Lake, winning the first and losing the second 7 to 5.
Two Waywayseecappo residents Alfred Keewat incappo aged 50 and his wife Anne aged 48 died in a fire that damaged their home one half mile east of the Band Office. The blaze occurred between the evening of December 2 and the early morning of December 3. Officials suspect smoking in bed. Rossburn RCMP and the Fire Commissioner’s office Brandon are investigating.
A Tuesday meeting at Rossburn Elementary drew many parents to discuss launching a nursery school for three and four year olds in Rossburn. An executive was elected with Mary Procyk as President and Caroline O Reilly as Teacher, targeting a January 4, 1977 opening and registration at the United Church basement.
Public skating and multiple hockey sessions run weekly with designated hours for girls and women's hockey minor hockey and figure skating. Hornets games and linament league appearances noted. A free skate is offered with a skating ticket required or a 7 sc fee after initial free skate.
