The RCMP and Canadian police will participate in Safe Driving Week December 1 to 7 with heightened checks for vehicle safety and Highway Traffic Act violations. Enforcement aims to reduce accidents and promote defensive driving amid a high risk of crash injury.
A one day seminar at the Agricultural Services Complex in Winnipeg gathered cheese processors, plant managers and government reps to discuss seasonal market share quotas and milk quality concerns. Speakers highlighted bulk set culture upgrades, sanitation, and aging factors for cheddar cheese with emphasis on high quality raw milk.
The Rossburn Hospital Auxiliary hosted a Saturday tea at the Rossburn Town Hall. A raffle awarded prizes to Helen Kuzenko a portable radio Joyce Metcalf a canister set and Pete Mitch crystal set.
Present and former residents of Solsgirth are invited to a Solsgirth Reunion planned for June 24 and 25, 1977. A planning meeting is set for December 3 at 8 p.m. in Solsgirth Hall. all interested persons should attend.
Changeable conditions with light snow flurries adding to a winter cover about 1 inch deep. Blowing dust season appears over. Temperature range this week shows highs around 17 and lows near 19.
The 16th Rossburn Lions Club anniversary banquet was held November 20 at the Rossburn Town Hall. Attendees included Lions from Estevan Ormiston Birtle Shoal Lake Hamiota and guests from Manitoba and Saskatchewan plus two new members inductees Dwain Lawless and John Calder. Awards honored long serving members as Rick Plaisier welcomed attendees and the Adam Krupa Orchestra provided dancing afterward.
In Rossburn Collegiate Zone X tournament results, the Rossburn girls and boys swept finals to claim back to back titles. Girls beat Major Pratt for two straight wins in the final after a 4 2 round robin. boys edged Elphinstone in a tight final, 15-10 18-15 19-17. The girls head to Baldur December 3–4 for Provincials.
The Lions Club held a jackpot bingo on Wednesday December 1 listing winners by number and name. Prizes included a $220 payout to Vivian Stitt and multiple tied rounds with participants such as Anton Luhowy Emily Tanasychuk and Mrs Emily Tanasychuk among others.
This Saturday evening December 4 a talent night will feature about 35 contestants. The program starts at 8 00 pm and will be broadcast over CKDM Dauphin. Each entry has a pledge number and proceeds benefit the Rossburn Lions Club Arena Building Fund.
