Rossburn Girls Win Fourth at Provincial B Finals Trip
The Rossburn Collegiate girls volleyball team travelled to Thompson December 2 to attend the Provincial B finals with the tournament held December 3 and 4 and return December 5. They finished fourth overall, posting 14 wins and 2 losses in round robin play before a semi final loss to Winnipegosis. A fundraising drive raised 306.82 dollars, leaving 11.71 after travel costs, with donors to be honored near the trophy case. The team praised community support and noted the trip was a success despite the loss.

The Rossburn Hospital Auxiliary held its November meeting in the hospital Board Room with eleven members present. They approved a $30 donation to the dental clinic, agreed to purchase coloring books and cards, and planned attendance at the Manitoba Health Conference. The next meeting is January 25, 1972.

Rossburn Women's Institute held its Christmas meeting on December 7 at 2 30 p m in the annex. Mrs Lindsay chaired in Mrs Radford s absence. The group opened with O Canada and The Creed and discussed donations to Children s Aid and a Dental Clinic. Cancer Relief was raised for an April contribution. Roll Call featured candy donations to Deer Lodge veterans. Jackpot gifts from Ber yl Williamson went to Ruby Armstrong, with next donation by Mrs Lindsay. Carols Mizpah Benediction and a lunch followed, piano use welcomed. Merry Christmas.

Local Initiatives Program approves six recreation jobs in Manitoba reserves
The Southwest Manitoba Recreation Council will hire six recreation workers for Waywayseeko Opatto Rossburn Keseekowania Elphinstone Rolling River Erickson Birdtail Sioux Baulah Oak Lake Pipestone and Sioux Valley Griswold. About 18000 funding and a federal labor contribution based on prevailing wages up to 100 per man week. By December 3 Manitoba had 133 project applications with 92 from local groups and 41 from municipalities. Support ends May 31, 1972. Up to 17 percent of labor funds may cover other costs including CPP contributions and materials.
