Manitoba to tighten child abuse reporting law amendments
The Legislature last week reviewed amendments to the Child and Family Services Act aimed at closing third party abuse loopholes. Community Services Minister Charlotte Oleson said the changes will expand definitions and require mandatory reporting by anyone with a reasonable belief a child is in danger. Guidelines will be redrafted with educators and care providers over the next two months to ensure early implementation.

Malchuk rises to deputy reeve in Park district

Weekly temperature decline with light winds predicted
The forecast calls for a gradual drop in temperatures over the week after warmer days. Northerly winds on Tuesday night and Wednesday will push temperatures down to around 8 to minus 10 by week’s end with little cloud and minimal snow chances.
Schools urged to act on lead in water lines
Environment Minister Ed Connery issued a provincial advisory urging school divisions to adopt a voluntary program to flush water lines to reduce lead. Winnipeg tests found high morning lead levels. running taps for minutes is advised. A public information package will be prepared and testing procedures drafted. An emergency Plumbing Committee meeting will explore viable alternatives to lead solder for new construction.

Boundary shift prompts school bus boundary agreement
