December Meeting of Rossburn W I Held with 16 Members
The Rossburn Women's Institute held its December meeting on Tuesday December 4 in the annex at 3 p.m. with 16 members and a Vice President presiding in Mrs. McKnight's absence who broke her ankle. A pot-luck lunch followed and two resolutions passed to be discussed at the May Convention. The next meeting will be January 8 with Mrs. Ukrainetz speaking on Civil Defence.

A successful area meeting of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League took place at Oakburn Parish Hall on Sunday November 18 with Holy Mass Confessions and dinner. Delegates from Sol Birtle Shoal Lake Rossburn Olha Coluny Menzie and Elphinstone parishes attended chaired by Mrs Olga Yarish with Mrs Helen Anton as Secretary. Jessie Yanick spoke on The Role of Women in the First Days of Christianity and today. Each parish commented on the year’s work and the next meeting is planned for Rossburn.

A Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church ceremony in Rossburn on October 6 at 3 p.m. united Violet Martha Matiowski and Wm McKietiuk in marriage with Rev. W. Melnychuk officiating. Memorial Rink Holds Annual Meeting
The Oakburn Memorial Rink held its annual meeting on Thursday November 22 in the rink waiting room. Treasurer James M Foxton reported a successful season. Retiring directors were reelected with Steve Derkach replacing Ned Derkach who attends Teacher's College in Winnipeg. Plans for winter activities were laid with unchanged skating hockey and curling fees. Joseph Varish was appointed caretaker of the skating and curling rinks.

Barn Fire Destroys Structure and Feed at Mitchell Farm
A Saturday blaze destroyed a 34 by 60 foot barn on the Bert Mitchell farm along with nearly two years of stored feed. Seven calves were rescued as firefighters and volunteers fought the flames for an hour before a fire truck arrived. Phone line outage delayed response and prompted a call for closer fire coverage to Rossburn.
