Plans And Projects Explained Rossburn Hockey Association

Rossburn Hockey Association outlines a plan to finance free skating for all district children by selling $2.50 memberships. Members gain one vote, and names are posted at the Rossburn Memorial Arena to show support for youth recreation. The group also offers season ticket books for Hornets home games at $4.00, a 15 percent savings.

25th Wedding Anniversary Celebration in Shoal Lake

Mr and Mrs John Garnick observed their 25th wedding anniversary with over 100 guests at Buffalo Plains Inn Shoal Lake hosted by their children. The event featured toasts, gifts including a walnut wall clock and silver tea set, and dancing until midnight. They married November 11 1944 in Oakburn and live in Rossburn with two children and one granddaughter.

Five Rossburn Boys Receive Queen Scout Awards in Winnipeg

On Saturday November 22 at the Fort Garry Hotel in Winnipeg five Rossburn youths Henry Bidochka Milton Drosdoski Brian Grawryluk Leonard Kombyr and Ryan Shust earned Queen Scout awards. Harvey Komhyr acted as Assistant Scout Master in Mr. Wrightson’s absence. The awards were presented by Lieutenant Governor Hon Richard S Bowles who also spoke at the banquet. Mr and Mrs Ed Shust and Mr and Mrs H Komhyr attended.

Referees' School Planned For Sunday

The M.A.H.A. conducts a referees' school in Rossburn at 12:30 p.m. on December 7 with young hockey players invited. A coaches' school follows in Strathclair on December 13 led by Bill Juzda Al Tressor and George Allard, the M.A.H.A. executive secretary.

Parobec Re elected League President

Lawrence Parobec of Angusville was reelected president and N M Rusaw of Birtle secretary treasurer for the coming year at a Foxwar ren meeting. Snake Creek Hockey League centers must submit team entries by December 7 in Rossburn with birth dates and addresses, and proof of age by January 15 1970. two representatives per center and contact details due December 7.

Lions Plan Christmas Party For Rossburn Kids

The Rossburn Lions Club invites all youngsters to the annual Christmas Kid dies Party at Rossburn Town Hall on Saturday December 13 at 2:00 p.m. Free films candy and Santa Claus will attend.

Provincial B Champions Lose Out In Winnipeg

Rossburn Collegiate Girls Volley Ball team, defending provincial B title, played in Winnipeg on November 29. They split early with Kelvin, then dropped two straight to Dakota Collegiate, split with Steinbach, and were swept by Miles Mac in the final series. Despite losses, the squad gained city competition experience as donors funded travel and expenses totaling 146.45 with 53.55 balance returned to the Student Council.

Centennial Plans Discussed at Rossburn Meet

The Rossburn and District Centennial Committee met with 17 attendees on Monday. A Pot Luck Supper is planned for 6:00 p.m. on December 31 1969 the eve of the Centennial Year. Ceremonial events are being arranged between supper and the dance. Lottery tickets are being explored for sale. Next meeting is scheduled for December 15 at 7 30 p.m. in the Municipal Building.

Rossburn Junior High Girls Win In Virden Invite

Rossburn junior high girls volley team coached by R Slade traveled to Virden for a western Manitoba Junior High Invitational. The team beat Rivers 15 10 then 15 11 15 7, defeated Virden and Hamiota, edged Rostown Spartans in two games, and captured the tournament title with captain Debbie Walmsley receiving the trophy.

Oakburn Names Centennial Executive

Oakburn citizens elected the 1970 Centennial executive at a Nov 26 meeting at Oakburn High School. Officers are Pres. Michael Michalyshyn, Vice Pres. Mike Borodie, Sec. Treas. Stephen M. Waytowich. Planning head Julian Lucyshen with aides Peter Matiation and Mrs. P Nychek.
