Rossburn's Oldest Lady Mary Fisher Buried at Shoal Lake
Mary Hannah Fisher known as Rossburn's oldest resident died at 91 in Rossburn on August 23 1950 after a short illness. Funeral services were held at Rossburn United Church and Shoal Lake United Church with Rev. Dr. Pearson officiating. Interment followed at Shoal Lake Cemetery. She leaves three daughters a son sixteen grandchildren fourteen great grandchildren and two brothers. Her husband George W. Fisher preceded her in 1934.

Mr. Alex Cleland of Birdtail delivered oats grading 3 c.w. and weighing 38 lbs per bushel to the U.G.G. Elevator at Birdtail. Delivery occurred Saturday August 26, two and a half weeks after the first 1949 grain in the district. Harvesting expected within a week or ten days. heavy rains threaten losses and much of the crop is lodged requiring cutting near the ground.

Michael Olynick, a World War II veteran from Rossburn Manitoba area, became the first volunteer for the Army's new Special Force. He served 1942 to 1945, reenlisted in the Royal Canadian Infantry Corps, and is 27.
