Obituary Fylyp Tutkaluk Passes at 92 in Vista
Fylyp Tutkaluk died at his Vista home on Tuesday August 17 at age 92. Born in Western Ukraine he came to Canada in 1907 worked for the railroad, homesteaded in Leech then Menzie, retired to Vista in 1944. Survived by wife, son Mike, three daughters, 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. funeral at Ukr Greek Orthodox Church Oakburn with prayers at the Ukr National Home Oakburn.

Credit Union Directors Meet in Rossburn
The Rossburn Credit Union board met August 18 at their office with full attendance. The credit union reported 46 personal loans totaling $27,600 and 4 real estate loans totaling $19,500 plus 4 loan extensions for $863. To aid members during the season the office will open Saturdays 8 to 9 p.m. through September. 28 new members were accepted, bringing this year’s total to 76. Assets surpassed a quarter million, per Government Auditor, indicating a sound position. The board will reconvene September 13 for harvest operations review.

Village Council Reports August Meeting Actions
Rossburn council met August 17 with Mayor Peter Wladyka and four councillors. They approved minutes, the July financial, and the constable reports, granted hydro grounding for hydrants, and planned a mill levy for 1966 70 for a Centennial project pending approvals. Building permits for Sawchuk and Komhyr were granted. Council also asked Manitoba Hydro to adjust lighting and passed bills totaling 2086.27 before adjourning to September 21.

Cardinals Edge Strathclair in Northwestern League Final
The Cardinal team defeated Strathclair 8 to 7 on August 22 at Strathclair to win the Northwestern Baseball League finals. Currie Chuchmuch earned the win with relief help from Richard Gallant.
