Silver Anniversary Surprise Celebration

Mr and Mrs Basil M Trakalo celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a surprise party in their honor. Guests from Lakedale Angusville Erickson Rackham and Grandview attended a program at the school with a two tier cake a poem a song and a gift of money.

Doubleday-Palmer Bridal Unites Elizabeth Jane and Robert

Elizabeth Jane Doubleday and Robert Thomas Doubleday were married at the Palmer home in Riverton Manitoba with Rev. I. Roset officiating. A reception for about 50 followed. The couple will reside on the groom’s farm near Selsgirth with out of town guests visiting from Welwyn Elm Creek Dryden and Flin Flon.

Dolly Miller Honoured by W.M.C. Ladies

A pleasant evening at Mrs. Herb Taylor's home August 16 honored Miss Dolly Miller. The Pentecostal W.M.C. presented a quilt and thanked Dolly for faithful service as secretary the past years. The gathering closed with prayer and a delicious lunch.

A miscellaneous shower for Dolly Miller bride elect of August 27 was held in the Legion Hall on August 17. Mrs. Harry Middlemass escorted Dolly to a decorated chair while her mother and sister Mrs. Fred Plant sat beside her. The group wore corsages as Joyce Mitchell read the address. Gifts were opened and admired, Dolly gave thanks, a sing song followed, and a dainty lunch was served to a large gathering.

Trousseau Tea Honors Dolly Miller Before Aug 27 Wedding

Mrs H Miller hosted a Trousseau Tea on Thursday August 18 with about seventy guests. Dolly Miller’s upcoming marriage to Arthur Lawrence Galvin on August 27 was announced. Mrs Hutton and Mrs Coughlan served tea in the afternoon while Mrs Roses and Mrs Joe Peden presided in the evening.

Vista Vacation School Achievement Night Features student groups

The Vista Vacation School held an Achievement Night on Friday August 19. Three groups Ambassadors Little Candles and Tom Thumbs performed under leaders Florence and Gerald Brown Elgin Brown Helen Miller Peggy Hamilton and Betty Mackedenski. Certificates were awarded to each child and community thanks were given to Mr Alston and helpers before a farewell reception and gifts were presented including a silverware chest and electric clock.

Passing of Mrs Hryciuk in Rossburn Winnipeg

Mrs Andrew Hryciuk died at her daughter Irene Spilchuk home in Winnipeg on August 22 after a year of poor health following a stroke She was born June 9 1882 in Stanislaw Yanneshy Ukraine and came to Canada with her husband May 15 1910 Surviving are her husband three sons Nick Murray William six daughters Dora Marie Kay Helen Irene Anne The funeral is set for Thursday morning August 25 at 19 00 in the Ukrainian Catholic Church Rossburn and burial will follow

4 H Club Camp At Crawford Park

A successful 4 H Club Camp for girls was held at Crawford Park. Seventy five girls from Sewing Food Poultry Seed Calf and Swine Clubs attended. Miss Laycock and Miss Lois Houston led with help from Miss Renton Boston and the Murray sisters. Skits and a bonfire closed the week with awards for best cabin best skit public speaking and sportsmanship among named campers.

Pie Social Draws Crowd At United Church

The United Church ladies held a tea and pie social in the church annex. Saturday evening proceeds totaling 32.21 were cleared for church funds.
