Harvest Festival Draws Record Crowds Over Weekend
The Parkland Harvest Festival at Rossburn and Rossman Lake enjoyed ideal weather with sunny, warm days and light winds. A Friday Outdoor Bingo and a Saturday gymkhana show drew large crowds. a 250 attendee teen dance preceded a mass turnout for a two day fairground event featuring rodeo and races. About 100 animals supplied for the gymkhana and $1000 in prize money for some pony and chariot events underscored the competition. Two riders were injured, with the Rossburn Ambulance on site.

Hail storm causes damage near Olha area
A Sunday to Monday hail storm east of Olha caused damage as it moved east in a 1 1/2 mile wide swath starting north of Olha store. Loss totals were not yet known. Community efforts included a Bake and Vegetable Sale raising 84.85 dollars for the Recusci Anne program and thanks were extended to numerous volunteers.

The two year old Futurity for Quarter Horses crowned War Lads Bonnie Lea with trainer Emile Corbet. Owner Brian Lynch Gilbert Plains, trainer Inez Lynch. Jockey Michael Nault rode to victory on Rossburn’s 440 yard straightaway in Manitoba's premier race with a roughly 1200 dollar purse funded by Quarter Horse owners.
