Rossburn hosts a three day Harvest Festival August 17 to 19 at Rossburn Fair Grounds and Rossman Lake with rodeo gymkhana races bingo cabaret fastball and a beef Bar-B-Que highlights include a teen dance crowning of rodeo queen and a Manitoba sand greens Open Golf Tournament plus a Wind-up program by the Parkland Ukrainian Association and a church service led by Father Lehky all welcome amid forecasted good weather.

Frost records early hard freeze and birthday party noted
A sharp frost Monday night dropped to zero in lower areas while official thermometers sit six feet up. Local gardener Mary Klym reports the frost as the earliest on record. A surprise 75th birthday for Mrs Carrie Rubeniuk was celebrated at the Rubeniuk farm on Sunday with a chorus of Happy Birthday.

Stupinsky's Daughter Christened in Sacred Heart Church
Jennifer Anne Stupinsky, first child of Robert and Shelley Stupinsky of Selkirk Manitoba, was christened and baptized July 21 at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Ukrainian Catholic Church in Rossburn by Reverend John Lehky. Godparents are John and Ynda Ryshytylo. A celebratory supper followed.

Community Heart Alert Program Fundraising Drive Planned
The hospital promotes the Community Heart Alert Program with a bake sale, vegetable sale, and Resusci-Anne demonstration at Harvest Festival on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. A dunking machine event is set for Sunday 1 to 4 p.m. at the lake to benefit the program with ticket sales and donations noting donors and amounts.

Accident at crossing near Rossburn with CNR freight train
A late model car collided with an eastbound CNR freight train near Rossburn on Highway 1, one mile west of the junction with No 254. The vehicle was moved from the ditch by Slow's tow and the driver was rushed to Brandon Hospital by Rossburn Ambulance. The condition of the driver was unavailable at press time.
