Fire Hall To Be Built In Rossburn For New Fire Truck
Village of Rossburn council on August 21 approved buying a 212 ton fire truck with an 800 gallon tank and having it equipped by Metal Industries Limited at Brandon. Construction of a fire hall adjacent to the skating rink was authorized, to be heated from the rink facilities. Minutes and financials approved. one Old Age Assistance and two building permits approved. Council adjourned to September 18.

Foxwarren Girl Wins Important Manitoba Scholarship
Margaret Jeffs of Foxwarren, a 1% honor student and 4-H Clothing Club member, is Manitoba’s first recipient of the new Canadian National Exhibition scholarship. The $750 award, announced by Agriculture and Immigration Minister C. L. Shuttleworth, supports her plans to study Home Economics at the University of Manitoba after presenting certificates on September 5 in Toeromte. Jeffs has notable activity in 4-H, student council, United Nations seminar, track and field, and musical festivals.
