War ends as town celebrates with bonfire and songs

Crowds gathered Tuesday evening August 14 rejoicing over the surrender news. A large bonfire of planks and used oil was lit, smoke seen ten miles away, and people traveled from the country to witness the blaze. Mayor Stitt and Mayor Files led a town hall dance with guest musicians. A Thanksgiving service on Sunday featured Rev. A C Mack and Rev. J W Garrett with Mrs A C Mack and Miss L Clwent contributing to the music.

Rossburn Village to vote on 10000 for sidewalks rink plan

The Rossburn Village Council, with Utility Board approval, seeks by 20 year by law to raise 10000 state funds to finance sidewalk repairs and a curling rink. Annual tax burden rises to 735.82 but offsets 170.78 through the plan. A public meeting is set for Tuesday evening September 4th at the village hall for rate payers.

Mrs Barlow and children of Winnipeg visiting relatives in town left Tuesday for Brandon and Ourse. Mass Lynn Clubley returned to Winnipeg after a month with grandparents. Every service member is entitled to free dental treatment after discharge. apply within 90 days. First case of Sleeping Sickness in horses reported as N Clubley’s horse ill with hot weather conditions raising cases in coming days.
