Olga Podtepa and Leslie Lyman run a summer program at Rossburn Regional Library every Wednesday 7 to 9 PM for children of all ages. Starting with five kids, the event now draws 23, offering movies, magic, crafts, and safe, educational fun while parents get a break.
At the Chegwin home northeast of Vista strong winds on Thursday night lifted their garage off its base and moved it about 20 feet. The garage smashed into a hydro pole and lines fell on the house while the car and garden tractor inside remained undamaged due to the missing floor. Manitoba Hydro took soil samples to check for PCB contamination from the transformer. The family sheltered in the basement as the winds passed with no other damage reported.
Forty eight Rossburn residents toured Alberta’s hazardous waste treatment facility in Swan Hills after traveling from Edmonton. They met the mayor and councillors, viewed films, and attended Q A sessions before visiting West Edmonton Mall on return. The trip left Rossburn Sunday morning and returned late Tuesday.
