Park officials discuss park privileges at Rossburn meeting
Ivan Fleischmann met Rossburn municipal reps on Monday August 11 to discuss baying grazing and timber salvage in burned areas. The meeting formed a regional committee to study emergency park use, access rules, wildlife effects, and future policy with MPs MLAs and regional groups aiding coordination. The first session is set within two to three weeks.

Harvest Festival Rain Dampens Weekend Events
Rain drenched Rossburn washing out Sunday events at Rossman Lake while Friday’s crowd at the Outdoor Bingo and Rock Concert started the festival strong. Gayle Kryshewski was crowned Rodeo Queen with Karen Maxwell and LeeAnn Butler as princesses as the Cabaret and Hoedown drew a large attendance. The weekend program continues with races scheduled Sunday at the Rossburn Fair Grounds.

Glu-Rite workers return after nearly yearlong strike
Russell staff reports twelve of sixteen Glu-Rite Products strikers have resumed work on July 17 1980 ending a strike that began August 23 1979. Manager Keith Fargey noted many holdouts moved from Russell and all workers were unionized. Over $300000 in production was lost as arch rafters halted.

The Strongest Man in the World TV Film Airing
A half hour film about the late Mike Swistun titled The Strongest Man in the World will air Sunday on CBC Television at 2 30 P M as part of the Canadian Reflections series. Narrated by Jack Palance and directed by Halya Kuchmir the program covers Swistun from his circus days to western Canada tours. The film originated in Winnipeg and Ojiba Ontario and documents his life after his death.
