Manitoba Increases Minimum Wage to 4.70 Per Hour
Manitoba raises its minimum wage from 4.50 to 4.70 an hour effective September 1 1987. Youth wage rises from 4.20 to 4.55 on September 1 1987 with full parity at 4.70 by April 1 1988. Rossburn council approves buried cable plan and leases

New RCMP Constable Assigned to Rossburn Detachment
Amanda Griffiths, 20, a Regina police academy graduate from Foremost Alberta, arrived August 3 to begin her posting at the Rossburn RCMP detachment. She says Rossburn is similar in size to Foremost and enjoys the community and its people. Griffiths spends spare time swimming and curling.

Waywayseecappo hosts pilot carpentry course on reserve
Ten students begin a 16 week carpentry program run by the Waywayseecappo Indian Band with Canada Employment Centre and Assiniboine Community College. Taught by John Bemstead of ACC, the course aims to qualify students for the carpenter ticket after a labor department test.
