Parkland Harvest Festival 1982 a huge success despite rain
The Rossburn Harvest Festival drew about 5000 attendees over two days at the Rossburn Agricultural Grounds. Added features included a Friday parade, street dance, and pari mutual betting on Quarter Horse Races. Bingo winner was Mrs. George Lazaruk. Ranch Queen Cindy Stebeleski and princesses Wendy Taylor and Rhonda Goletz were honored.

Westman studies Erickson area cable distribution plan
Westman Media Cooperative Limited hired an engineering firm to review using UHF transmission for Erickson and assess a low cost cable distribution alternative. The cooperative holds CRTC approval to service Shoal Lake, Rossburn, Hamiota, Pilot Mound, Glenboro, Elkhorn, Minitonas, Winnipegosis, McCreary and Erickson with the CANCOM signal. General Manager Terry Gunnlaugson says the study may take months, aiming to provide superior service and more offerings if feasible, with media updates on progress and timing for Erickson and related communities.

A 3 PM ceremony in Rossburn on August 15 marked the opening of Rossburn Parkland Downs before about 3000 attendees led by Society President Pat Johnston. Manitoba officials Henry Carroll and others attended as the track debuted pari mutuel betting and gained approval from the Manitoba and American Quarter Horse Associations. Time ratings will receive official recognition.
