Manco announces a planned Rossburn cheese factory with a $50,000 loan certificate issue at 7 percent interest. The project aims for a plant costing over $200,000, supported by a new milk production survey showing strong local interest and demand above cream butter prices. Prospective investors are urged to purchase certificates to accelerate the development.
Baptism held Sunday July 23 with Father Parada at St Marys Greek Catholic Church Russell for Lesia Alanna daughter of Mr and Mrs Peter Kostuik Jr Angusville. Godparents are Mrs Mike Penonzek Winnipeg and Jack Kostuik Angusville.
George Pradhnuk of Rossburn, aged 51, died Saturday evening when his truck rolled over in a ditch on Provincial Road 254 just north of Rossburn between Matt's Texaco and the Ukr Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at the Ukr Orthodox Church in Glen Elmo.
The June Rossburn Hospital Auxiliary meeting at Ann Slows cabin on June 27 heard 16 ladies respond to roll call with a tea towels donation. Officers nominated include Pres Jean Cleland Sec Janice McFeeters Vice Pres Jeannette Labossiere Treasurer Doris Caldwell with committees listed. A gift of two dollars to each sick member was approved and life membership pin to be decided by the executive for September presentation.
Rev G Fulford officiated a July 15 double ring wedding at Vista United Church uniting Katherine Ellen Evelyn Armstrong and An Derry Moulson eldest son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Moulson of Foxwarren. The bride wore a nylon taffeta lace empire gown with accessories and carried white gladioli.
Mr and Mrs J D Black of Hamiota Manitoba held an Open House July 22 from 2 to 5 pm for friends and relatives on their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple wed January 2 1918 in Shoal Lake. Out of town guests came from Rossburn Brandon Flin Flon and Kingston among others. The celebration featured a gold and white decor three tier cake and a turkey supper served by Hamiota U C W.
The Angusville Centennial Park opening drew about 1000 attendees for a July 23 baseball tournament featuring eight teams including Neepawa Cubs and Angusville Cardinals. Prizes were awarded to top finishers, a bronze plaque commemorated the event, and guest speakers from Silver Creek Municipality Russell and local council attended the afternoon ceremony.
Elwyn McFeeters is announced as the $50 winner of the Elephant Brand Fertilizer draw. The winning ticket was drawn by Garry Gosselin.
Ed Berney landed a 9 percent pound pickerel at Rossman Lake on Friday afternoon. The catch marked his biggest fish in 35 years of fishing and drew congratulations from onlookers.
