A weekly paper announces a contract to publish at least ten local interest pictures monthly at no charge. Subscribers are urged to submit birthday and wedding anniversaries, new buildings, accidents, and animal photos. Birthday pictures exclude under 65, and a couple must have 40 years married for free publication.
The United and Pentecostal Churches held a week of meetings in Rossburn Town Hall August 5 to 12 led by Rev. J. C. O'Brien of Medicine Hat and the Forsyth Trio of Sexsmith Alberta. The evangelistic appeal emphasized heaven and hell as part of Christian revival as Carl Forsyth and group provided instrumental numbers and gospel songs.
Mrs Mary Parmalee aged 82 years and 6 days died at Rossburn Hospital on Saturday evening August 11 after a short illness. Funeral services were held at Rossburn United Church Tuesday August 14 at 2 p.m. with Pastor W B Eaton and Rev Barclay officiating. Interment followed in Rossburn Cemetery. Further particulars will be published next week.
A quiet wedding was solemnized at the United Church manse in Miami Manitoba on July 25 with Rev D E Freer uniting Eleanor Deane and James Robert Harlow in marriage. The couple will reside in Rossburn after a honeymoon at Clear Lake and the bride wore white taffeta jersey with a chapel veil and American Beauty roses.
Joyce Maxwel l age five, daughter of Mr and Mrs Bill Maxwell of Birdtail, proudly holds a nine pound eight ounce fish caught by her father near their Birdtail river home. The trophy fish is nearly as long as Joyce’s height.
The Honourable J. S. McDiarmid announced a sharp rise in Manitoba tourist traffic for July with over 17,000 U S vehicles entering, vs 15,000 in June. Long term traffic reached 7,433. short term 9,325. commercial entries 246. First seven months show 52 percent rise in short term, 67.2 percent in long term, and 134 percent in commercial traffic.
