Manitoba Sand Greens Open golf tournament results

August 8–10 at Rossman Lake Golf Course drew 121 players with 88 in Men Open 19 in Seniors and 24 in Ladies. Joe Laxdal won the Manitoba Open Championship with 67. Winners listed by flight include Marg Cleland and Marg Robinson in Championship, D Finkbeiner top in First, Agnes Hogberg and Lorna Veitch in Second, and Joe Laxdal in Open.

Rural Delegation Meets With Band Council

A rural delegation from the Council of Rossburn Municipality met with Chief and Council of the Waywayseecappo Band at the Band Office on Monday August 11 at 2 00 p m to discuss mutual concerns. The municipality will gain access to gravel on the Reserve for part of its 1975 road gravelling program and a close liaison will be maintained to protect good relations between councils.

Rossburn Council elects to maintain shared office facilities

The Village of Rossburn Special Meeting on July 25 1975 decided unanimously to continue renting and sharing office facilities with the Rural Municipality of Rossburn. Mayor Louis Kurchaba presided with Councillors Drosdoski Plaisier Slow present. Barrie Lee absent. The council stated splitting offices would harm the community and resolved to maintain joint facilities.

Oakburn Couple Renew 50th Wedding Vows in Oakburn

Mr and Mrs S P Gerelus of Oakburn celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a July 20 reception at Rivers Ukrainian National Home hosted by their children Tony and family. Guests included Rev Hudyma and Ottawa and Vancouver attendants. Trudeau and Manitoba dignitaries sent congratulations. The couple, active in community, church, and store business, have 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild and renewed vows on July 26 at the Oakburn Ukr Greek Orthodox Church.

McTavish Family Reunion Held at Rossburn Homes

A McTavish reunion gathered July 25 at the Rossburn homes of Bert and Walter McTavish. Forty guests enjoyed a dinner prepared by Olive and Eva in the recreation room, with many out of town visitors from Ontario, Manitoba, British Columbia and the USA.

Harvest Festival Recreation Wrap Themed Events and Winners

After the Harvest Festival, the town hosted a checker tournament at Town Hall with John Collins winning the A side and Victor Moore and Bill Stitt following. B side winners were from Russell. Canoe races at the lake featured Larry Perchaluk and Darryl Chegwin taking first, while a tow-in canoe placed third. Horseshoes saw Ivan Crerar top the field with Joe Mentuck second. Five-team fastball saw Sandy Lake defeat Rossburn Merchants 16-10, Endcliffe Royals topple Waywayseecappo Blues 7-1, Oakburn beat Endcliffe 8-6, and Rossburn Merchants won the B side final 28-8 over Waywayseecappa Blues. Oakburn beat Sandy Lake 10-8 for the A side. Five Rossburn girls joined Camp Manito in Riding Mountain. An Archery Clinic is set for Aug 19 at 7:00 p.m. at the college grounds with a Winnipeg guest, and Aug 22 features 8th Day Earth Sense at Rossburn Playground teaching environment and pollution through games.
