A miscellaneous shower in the United Church Annex Aug Th honored Norah Singer Pollock. Norah was escorted to her chair as Here Comes The Bride played. Mrs Stee! read the address and gifts circulated. Hostesses served a dainty lunch.

Mr and Mrs J G Stitt and Sterling Veitch led a 4000 mile motor trip visiting Saskatoon Edmonton Lacombe Trail and Vancouver while reconnecting with many former Rossburn residents. From Victoria they toured Sydney Anacortes Yellowstone Grand Canyon and Beartooth area before returning via Montana to Manitoba.
Sealed tenders will be received by the Rossburn School Board up to 6 p m August 18 1958 for 12 van drivers covering routes 1 to 12 starting August 26 1958 to June 30 1959. A communication from Hon. Erick F. Willis minister of public works via village solicitor R. Smellie confirms Russell-Erickson road will enter Highway 45 within village limits. Hardtopping of Main Street becomes financially feasible as a result of the council resolution.
A family gathering was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Mitchell on Aug 4. Attendees included Christina Williams of Winnipeg Dorothy Veitch of Toronto Isabella J C O'Brien of Edmonton Anne Florence Mitchell plus Norman and Ecklin Mitchell, Darlene and Eleanor, and others. An afternoon buffet luncheon followed a dinner with Bert Mitchell Bill Chegwin and Wilson Stitt among the guests.
The notice lists church activities with services at 7 30 p m and 11 00 a m and a Sunday School at 10 20 for VISTA Church and 11 00 a m for another service. It presents times and venues without additional context.
Rural Municipality of Rossburn held its August meeting with Reeve Ed Shust and most councillors present. Terence Fowler was named arbitrator for land transfers to school districts. A local contractor offered to build 2 miles of road at his cost, repayable over ten years from Ward I funds. Bonds were converted to 14 year issuance at 4 percent. One Old Age Assistance case was approved and bills were paid. Council adjourned to September 6.
At the Rossburn School Board meeting four tenders were received for the new teacherage. Harry Komhyr submitted the successful bid at 8991 for a complete job with exterior and interior painting and built in cupboards. Construction will start soon and wrap up by September end.
August 1958 schedule lists masses in Rossburn at 10:00 a m on the 19th and 28th and 10:30 a m on the 31st with entries for Meears Otha Ruthenia and Rev J Lehky. An August 17 and other times note farm services and a 4:00 p m Ruthenia service along with a 10:00 a m Rossburn service on August 31.
A childlike poem recalls Jack and Jill longing to meet a traveling princess over Manitoba. They describe wildflowers, a distant plane, and a missed chance to share a moment, ending with a wish to meet the princess when grown yet acknowledging youth as the time for encounters.
