Rossburn R M Council Meeting Minutes August 8 1961
The Rossburn R M Council met in the Council Chambers on August 8 with Reeve M J Sotas and Councillors Brown Hyra Pawluk and Posmituck present. Minutes from prior sessions were read and confirmed. The financial statement for July 31 1961 was adopted and the council approved applying for PFAA benefits. A $3000 discount to Krywa Bros on road machinery was approved to be applied to 1961 payments per April 12 1960 agreement.

Former Vista girl aids capture of bank robber in Vancouver
Elizabeth Mackedenski, 20, helped stop a Royal Bank of Canada Branch hold-up on July 31 when a teller yelled a warning after triggering the silent alarm. The suspect was grabbed near the door by the savings manager and assistant accountant. Miss Mackedenski is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Mike Mackedenski of Vista.

Calvin Edward Fiel Dies in Sudden Accident at 16 Months
Calvin Edward Fiel aged 16 months died after an accident in the Kelloe district. He was the infant son of Mr and Mrs Edward Fiel. Funeral services were held July 26 at 10 am at the Roman Catholic Church Shoal Lake with prayers the night before. Burial followed in Shoal Lake Catholic Cemetery. Surviving are his parents a sister Laurie grandparents Mr and Mrs Peter Fiel Shoal Lake and Mrs Vera Mann Medora Man pallbearers Edward Kozyk Ronald Mann Eugene Lazaruk Murray Ewanation.

Drowning Victim Mike Hnatiw Identified in Seech Lake Tragedy
Mike Hnatiw 1927 drowned when his boat capsized on Seech Lake Sunday July 23. Born Seech District he later moved to Oakburn worked eight years as a trucker. Funeral services were held at Ukr Greek Orthodox Church Oakburn with multiple services and interment at the local cemetery. Pallbearers named from Oakburn Winnipeg Brandon and Elphinstone.
