Elphinstone RCMP report the death of William Piniuta age 56 of Brandon in a single vehicle crash near Elphinstone. He was the lone occupant of a 1978 Oldsmobile that went out of control 1.6 kilometres west and 3.2 north of Elphinstone as police continue investigations.
Winnipeg motor vehicle branch of Manitoba Department of Highways reminds motorists that the final day to use studded tires in the province is April 30.
Manitoba Heart Foundation reports the 1981 campaign raised 928000 dollars, up 21.7 percent from the prior year. Rural Manitoba contributed 244000, a 22.2 percent rise, while volunteers operated in 137 communities compared with 97 last year.
Cargill Grain Co. of Winnipeg announced plans to spend 600000 on its Solsgirth elevator facilities. The project includes a 70 foot scale and features to allow simultaneous loading of trains and unloading of trucks. Work is expected to begin shortly.

A two day Jehovah's Witnesses seminar at Western Centennial Auditorium Brandon concluded Sunday at 1 30 PM with a peak attendance of 744 listening to Facing the Future with Faith and Courage. Robert Alton district representative cited Luke 21 26 and warned fear is a mental poison and a health antagonist. The audience was urged to study the Bible to build faith to meet future fears. A Saturday highlight was a baptism talk followed by water immersion of four persons from sixteen Manitoba congregations.

Drama Club presents Mountain Gal a heart warming comedy directed by Mrs B Brown with cast including Maria Leanne Lucyshen Patokah Conrad Tanasychuk Denise Chicheluk Peggy Lori McKietiuk Oby David Heindle Sophronia Kelly Kostecky McKay Annette Skavinski Perrin Raymond Lysyshin and Gordon Ward Slobodesky at Rossburn Thursday April 30 and Friday May 1 and in Winnipeg May 8 for Drama Festival with clubs from Brandon Flin Flon Neepawa. The club aims to continue popular annual productions and hopes for strong support in Winnipeg.
