Rossburn council approves 1981 budget

The Rural Municipality of Rossburn approved its 1981 annual budget at the April 13 meeting and sent it to the Department of Municipal Affairs for approval.

Rossburn students top Manitoba in Waterloo maths contest

Rossburn Collegiate students excel in the University of Waterloo Mathematics Contest where about 30 000 Canadian students from grades 9 to 11 competed. Grade 11 trio Patrick Ewanyshyn Robert Buternowsky and Daniel Reles led Zone 1 Manitoba with Ewanyshyn scoring 80.25 while Buternowsky and Reles posted 71.75 and 71.50 respectively.

Pelly Trail mill rates cut for 1981 budget plan

The Pelly Trail School Division No 37 approves an 1981 budget with a new Education Support Program reducing the special mill rate to 23.5 mills from 61.8, while provincial farm and residential rates rise to 37.0 mills. Total farm and residential school mill rate drops to 60.5 mills from 67.2. Expenditures and revenues for 1980 and 1981 show shifts across administration, instruction, day school, maintenance, transportation, debt servicing, and capital, with province funding rising to 77.9 percent and municipal funding falling to 13.8 percent. The Education Support Program uses September 1980 enrollment as the basis for three-year support, with future provincial revenue tied to CPI changes.
